Philippe Tapissier a passé son enfance en Finlande où la nature s’étend à perte de vue. Il réalise alors qu’il ne parviendra jamais à inclure tout ce qui l’entoure dans une seule photographie. Une intuition l’amène à déconstruire le paysage en fragments pour ensuite le reconstruire. Il procède par accumulation, juxtaposition et superposition d’instantanés, recréant ainsi la perception qu’il avait des paysages photographiés, entre réalité, mémoire, et onirisme. Par un jeu d’assemblage et de stratification, l’image devient alors matière, elle est palpable, présente en de multiples plans dans l’espace. Philippe Tapissier spent his childhood in Finland where nature extends as far as the eye can see. He realized that he would never be able to include everything around him in a single photograph. An intuition leads him to deconstruct the landscape into fragments and then rebuild it. He proceeds by accumulating, juxtaposing and superimposing snapshots, thus recreating the perception he had of the landscapes photographed, between reality, memory, and fantasy. Through a process of assembly and stratification, the image then becomes material, it is palpable, present in multiple layers and alignments in space.
